Compatibility Notice:
This product is designed for MSFS2020 but is compatible with MSFS2024. If starting cold & dark (engine/s off), use Shift + C to enter the cockpit on PC and if you’re on Xbox use LB + B. The EFB (tablet) can be used to adjust options, though some overlap issues persist. An official version tailored specifically for MSFS2024 will be released following the completion of its development. The MSFS2024 version will include new features exclusive to the 2024 release.

Introducing the CowanSim R22 v1.0

Cowan Simulation is proud to announce the release of our newest addition to Microsoft Flight Simulator: the R22, now available on PC. At CowanSim, we are committed to excellence and continuously refine our fleet based on invaluable feedback from pilots worldwide. Development doesn’t stop at launch; the R22 and all future releases will evolve with ongoing updates informed by the community. Remember, great things take time.

Flight Model and User Experience

CowanSim flight models are rigorously pilot-tested, approved, and developed using the Microsoft Flight Simulator SDK. No external flight models or programs are used, ensuring a seamless and integrated user experience.

• Hardware Compatibility: The throttle can be mapped to your hardware, and all other control bindings are fully functional.
• Persistence Features: This model includes persistence coding, saving your weight and balance settings, as well as all visible options/models, for future flights.
• Weight and Balance Setup: When a flight is started, you’ll need to configure the helicopter’s weight and balance via the in-sim menu bar to access options.

For more detailed guidance, please consult the included manual, which covers hardware bindings and other essential instructions. The manual is located in the package folder, and an online version with checklists is also available for convenience, including for Xbox users:

Customization Options

The R22 comes with an impressive selection of 22 liveries, providing plenty of variety. For those who want to create their own designs, we’ve included:

• An easy-to-use paint kit compatible with GIMP and Adobe Photoshop.
• A Blender model for 3D painters to craft intricate, custom liveries.

Installation Instructions

1. Unzip the Files: Extract the downloaded files into the “Community” folder for your version of Microsoft Flight Simulator.
2. Reveal Hidden Files:
   • By default, Windows hides the AppData folder.
   • Open File Explorer, go to the View tab in the menu, and select Hidden items to make it visible.
