The CowanSim 206B3 v2.0 is our newest edition and now available on PC. At Cowan Simulation we strive for perfection and continuously update our fleet using valuable feedback from pilots around the world. The 206B3, and subsequent releases, will continue to be developed using that valuable information. Please remember that updates take time. All good things take time. 🙂
CowanSim flight models are pilot tested, approved and developed with the Microsoft Flight Simulator SDK. No external flight model/dynamics or programs are used to provide a seamless user experience.
The throttle and idle stop on this model can be mapped to your hardware. All other bindings are functional as well. This helicopter uses persistence code to save your weight and balance settings, as well as all visible options/models, for your next flight. Please read the manual that comes with this helicopter, it will answer a lot of your questions and has a clear explanation for all hardware bindings. The manual is located inside of the package folder. For your convenience, there is an online manual and checklist that you can find at: https://CowanSim.com/manuals-checklists/
Options like the Cineflex camera, passengers, spray kit, spotlight and more are available through the weight and balance settings window. Your settings will be saved for your next flight.
The 206B3 comes with 75 liveries, and an easy-to-use paint kit is provided in GIMP and Adobe Photoshop formats. A Blender model is also provided for all the 3D painters out there.

To install just unzip the into your MSFS 2020 “Community” folder.

Custom install:
If you used a custom location for your Flight Simulator installation then you can find the community folder in there.
Windows 10 hides the “AppData” folder, so you will have to go to “View” in the menu of File Explorer, and select “Hidden items” to see it.

Thanks for this nice helicopter. It’s a pleasure to fly around with it in MSFS in VR. Years ago, I had the oportunity to fly with an instructor to make a short flight with this helicopter. We were focussing on a few flight characteritics. In my opinion these things are also relativly good realised in MSFS. Nethertheless, there are some real pilots with a much greater experience on this helicopter, which reported some vulnerabilities regarding the flight characteristics. If these pilots are right and the MSFS permits, it would be great to bring this with an update regarding the flight characteristics. Overall, however, there is nothing to complain about here from my point of view.
Also the sound is in my option relativly good relised (especially the blade slap and from the outside during fly by and approach to the drone camera)
Maybe I found a tiny bug with the DC indicator. If everything is turned off, the indication should be at 0? For me it’s about 5…
What I miss a bit in VR is the ability to right click to zoom in on the instruments. But that is not so important.
I definitely give this helicopter 5 stars.
I’m looking forward to updates and more helicopters for MSFS.

The 206 is probably the helicopter I remember as seeing the most of when I was a kid growing up in the 70’s-80’s. To be it is very much an iconic helicopter. I really learned to fly helicopters in flight sims in the Dodosim 206 many years ago.
This Cowansim rendition does not disappoint and the V2.0 update including support for the throttle with hardware controls was kind of the icing on the cake. I think I have around 90 hours in this now, this would be considerably higher by now, but I got the CowanSim R66 more recently which has become my current go-to for use with Neofly. The 206 is still great and highly recommended.
